I need to get pictures, but I thought I would post now and add pictures later. Our landlord came to us at the end of April. The owner before them did some massive renovating of the main house. While they did that they add this trailer and lived here. They got the trailer hooked up to the septic tank with a note on the permit saying it was not intended as a rental. When he sold it to Gorden, this information didn't come up. Gordon has now been renting it for 16 years. But someone complained, and county people came out. And Gordon now either has to put in a 2nd septic tank or stop renting. This place isn't worth putting in another septic tank and they can't afford it. I don't understand why someone complained. He cleans out his septic every 4 years. But still-- it's not our fault, but we have to move.
We have gotten a great deal living here. With rentals up at this point, we were looking at houses double to triple our current rent. But that was all we were finding. But everyone we talked to said no. One house we really liked on Perkins in Richland went with the applicant just behind us. I think it was because I have 3 tornados and she had 1 quiet kid. A house on 62nd here in West Richland, we were really excited about. But they decided it was too much work to maintain and are selling it instead of renting it. We had problems attempting to get a loan. No one liked the fact that I paid everything off and didn't get back into debt. (It seems backwards to me--don't loan to me, I might actually pay back the loan. But that is they way it is.) In the end, Todd was inspired to check on an add while I was at work. I really wanted to say it wouldn't work for us. But I have to admit, I think we will be happy there.
First off, it ended up being the only house that would take us at this point. But secondly, it was also the only house within our desired price range. It is a 3 bedroom apartment in Kennewick off the Edison exit about 2 miles. I am really sad it is not in our ward. We will miss our callings (we both enjoy what we are doing). We will miss our friends even more. I was also not very happy to hear that it has NO hook ups for a washer or a dryer. And it's an apartment further away from our paper route than I liked.
Having said that: there are a lot of positives. The laundry room is right next door to our apartment. It is closer than it would have been had we gotten the house on Perkins. It also has 1 and a half bathrooms. Todd is stoked that his toothbrush will not be in the same bathroom as the girls toothbrush--they aren't really good at only using their just yet. It will be VERY nice to have 3 bedrooms instead of 2. And even the smallest bedroom is bigger than what the girls share now. Karla and Kylee are excited to give Kaylyn her own room. I realized this morning, we will also have a bathroom who's door shuts completely without slamming it. And we are half the distance to my mom's house as we are in West Richland. I think I am also closer to work. I hear great things about our new ward and elementary school. I am also positive we will find more advantages as times goes on.
I am excited to see what the Lord has in store for us. I have wondered why we need to move. And although I have no answers yet, I feel His hand guiding us.
For your information: our cell phone numbers won't change.

I think you're in Andy's parents ward, but they are in the singles branch right now. They are just down Hood from you though.
