Soap Box: 9/11 10 years

I meant to post his around 9/11 but Todd was off school, and I chose to be with him. He is now back in school, and I'm catching up. But I have heard many say we should quit talking about 9/11. I disagree.
Yes, what happened on 9/11 was terrible. We need to remember that there are those who would take away our freedom. They want to take away our freedom to become successful. They want to take away our freedom to choose to be happy and free from fear. We need to remember that we are at war against anyone who would take that away. We need to not become disinterested and dispassionate. 9/11 is a good reminder.
In my effort to never forget I will continue to research the issues. I will vote--and I will make educated decisions in my voting. I will not be silent as I continue to try to educated my friends and neighbors--so that the voice of a few do not take away the freedoms of the many. I will be grateful to those who like Rich Vance, my brother-in-law, who stand between me and those who would do me harm. He willingly leaves his family for months at a time to make a difference. And I will support them in the small ways I can.
And while what happened on 9/11 was terrible, I will remeber the heroism that manifest itself in the American people. I think we should continue to honor their sacrafices. And on 9/12 I will look around and see what I can do to help my neighbor. I will hug my kids and be a little kinder (especially when I'm tired. That's my weakness.) I will tell my loved ones I love one more time and then again. I will see what difference I can make for a neighbor who was recently laid off. I will donate something I don't need (or make something) to a woman's shelter. I'm thinking about making blocks for the kids there if I can get my hands on scap wood. And maybe I will make an extra winter hat.
I don't think we should forget 9/11. If we stop talking about it, our kids won't remember. It will become much like pearl harbor--a lesson we study in history, but we probably can't remember the date. I remember pearl harbor because my mom and dad talked about it in our home. I will not forget.

You know a lot of bad things and mistakes happen because people get to complacent that is why we tend to get the same trial over and over again because with time people forget the last time they were taught the same lesson and if I can just have the reminder of the lesson once a year instead of having another trial or disaster to teach me the same lesson I would perfer it. I agree that 9/11 is a good reminder to appriciate were I live and to help those around me and I don't want to forget it.
